The unit guides developed by the author is provided as examples of how an inquiry - based on science curriculum might be implemented in kindergarten classrooms. I offer project for teaching life cycle of silkworm to kindergarten children according to the program based on observation of life cycle silkworm, the examples used in this project are meant guides that teachers can modify, adapt, and extend to suit their needs and those of their children. The life cycle of silkworm is 62 days approximately. This silkworm is especially well suited for classroom study. It is small and brightly colored, will accept one kind of food. Is found worldwide, and undergoes complete metamorphosis in a relatively short time. The main objective of the unit is to introduce young children to the concept of life cycles by using one organism as example children also learn scientific vocabulary. The first eight lessons focus on caterpillar and cocoon stages of the silkworm. Children begin their study of these two stages by sharing their prior knowledge of caterpillars and then as, a pre -assessment exercise, they draw what they think a caterpillar looks like. To learn is to risk. This is the first ever work to investigate the impact on learning when risk-taking is explicitly taught in an elementary classroom. Using an action-inquiry approach, children?s initial conceptions of risk are excavated, experiences of their risk-taking described, and a pedagogy of risk-taking illuminated. The importance of cultivating risk in classrooms is emphasized, and the ingredients necessary for doing so are revealed. Lesson ideas are included. The ultimate aim of education is to help children become more at home in the world through self-discovery in relation with others. Risk-taking is not a subject or unit of study but a way of being, and in schools a way of approaching curriculum that nurtures students in becoming their best selves. Using personal narrative, stories of classroom experiences, and student work samples and quotations, the notion of risk as a way to nurture one?s inherent potential is uncovered. As composition graders, many instructors seem to spend countless hours writing comments on student work, however, studies consistently indicate that these comments are not only misunderstood by students but also are ineffective in encouraging substantial revision. Writing assessment needs more reputable pedagogical practices so that instructors are able to reach a level of feedback that genuinely engages students in the response and refinement processes of writing. Research suggests that for far too many educators teaching and assessing writing are two separate processes one they accomplish in the classroom and the other they complete often begrudgingly during late evenings at home. To be successful, assessing writing must be connected to teaching writing in both theory and practice. While many writing instructors have modified formerly teacher-centric classrooms through their educational philosophies and discussion-based lesson plans to foster a student-focus, their assessment of student writing has not similarly transformed.
